Inquisition Stormravens

Going ahead with my current 28mm painting thrill, I just painted a couple Stormravens for my Grey Knights army.

Here is how they came out:

All weapon options are available. I magnetized most of them. Only the forward guns - in front of the pilot - are not magnetized, as it would be too hard to find a small enough magnet to fit in there and still do the job of holding gun and hull together.

The solution there was to pin each weapon option down with a piece of clipper, and then drilling a hole on the hull narrow enough so to have a grasp on the clipper when inserted. I even took the care of drilling the hole in an angle, so there is no way the gun is going to simply fall off.

I painted a coule details on the inside, too, like the monitors and a button here and there.

The pictures below show how I managed to magnetize the sponsors. I fixed a cross of sprue on the door cavity and then drilled the joint so I could fix the magnet as centrally as possible.

Another magnet goes on each option available: door or hurricane bolters. Some epoxy or green stuff is needed to provide extra grap on the magnet, last it will unglue too easily when put in contact with its counterpart. It looks a little messy, but this side will remain hidden from view anyway, so I didn't waste much time on it.

More stuff coming out of the workdesk soon, I hope!

  2. Awesome Stormravens! I'm about to start working on one of my own, I think I might try magnetizing the sponsons like yours.
